| James Mendez Mendez, James S. age 52 of East Stroudsburg, PA died Wednesday November 28th, 2009 at the Compassionate Care Hospice Dover, NJ following a long illness. Born and raised in Jersey City, NJ James had resided there most of his life moving to Stroudsburg fourteen years ago. A graduate of Stevens Institute of Technology Hoboken, NJ in 1979 James received his BS in Engineering. Mr. Mendez had worked many years as an Electrical Engineer with Piccatinny Arsenal Dover, NJ until his retirement. James was a 6th degree Black Belt, Sensei and owner of the Sparta Karate Academy formerly of Sparta, now in Newton, NJ. He was also a member of the American Budo Kai, as well as a long time parishioner of the Our Lady of Victories RC Church Jersey City, NJ, Pre deceased by his father Santiago Mendez, survivors include his wife Anna L. (Caraballo) Mendez, his mother Aracelis (Pagan) Mendez, his brothers David and wife Chris Mendez, Michael Mendez as well as his sister Elizabeth and husband Gary Baura all of Palm Bay, FL. Funeral services will be held Monday November 23rd, 2009 at 10:30 am in the Smith-Taylor-Ruggiero Funeral Home, One Baker Avenue (Rt. 46), Dover, NJ 07801. Entombment will follow in Palm Coast Florida. Visitation will be in the Smith-Taylor-Ruggiero Funeral Home Saturday Nov. 21st and Sunday Nov. 22nd, from 3-5 and 7-9 PM. | |||||||||||
