| Joseph J. Rein Jr. Joseph J. Rein Jr., 90, died early Friday, June 06, 2008, at the Merry Heart nursing home in Succasunna. He was born on July 6, 1917, in the Panama Canal Zone to Joseph John Rein Sr. and Caroline M. (Heck) Rein. He grew up in Pennsylvania, Illinois and New Jersey and joined the National Guard as a teenager. Mr. Rein served in the U.S. Army for more than 20 years and retired in 1959 at the rank of Major. In World War II, he served in the Signal Corps at Normandy, the Battle of the Bulge and the route from Germany to Czechoslovakia. He also served in Germany from 1952 to 1955 and in Cambodia in 1958. Upon retirement from the Army, he was employed as an electrical engineer at Picatinny Arsenal. He worked in the Nuclear Division at Picatinny for 30 years and retired in 1989. In his spare time, Mr. Rein liked to build and fix radios and televisions and work on automobiles. Mr. Rein had lived in Dover and the surrounding area since 1959. He is predeceased by his wife, Audrey Philena (Anderson) Rein, and two sister-in-laws, Elizabeth (DiPrimio) Rein and Ella (Anderson) Fedorek. He leaves a brother, Carroll E "Buddy" Rein, of Weston, Fla., and a brother-in-law, Thomas Fedorek, of Rochelle Park, N.J. He also is survived by five children and their spouses: Joseph J. Rein III and Maxine M. Rein, of Mosely, Va., Rhoda A Wildey and Jack Wildey, of Dover, Ella P. Howell and Thomas A. Howell Sr., of Netcong, Elizabeth E. Rein and Robert Rein, of Malaga, and Margaret M. Thiel and James Thiel, of Levittown, Pa. He also leaves 11 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral Services will be held Tuesday June 10, 2008 at 10:30 AM in the Smith Taylor Ruggiero Funeral Home #1 Baker Ave. (Rt. 46) Dover, NJ. Interment will follow in the Restland Memorial Park Cemetery E. Hanover, NJ. Visitation will be held Monday June 9th from 3-5 and 7-9 PM. | |||||||||||
